Finally, Mike says something sensical!
I'm going to the Dec. 23rd game vs. Orlando, one of only two teams to beat us. Can't wait!

The Perfect Storm?
After watching our Celtics cut through the league for the first quarter of the season, I think they have a perfect storm that has left them heads and shoulders above almost the entire league. I'd like to see a western trip before I get too excited, but so far, the conditions fallen nicely.
First, their base of three all stars who can win games, but won't lose any as so many of the rookies did last year. They are talented, complementary and hungry for success. A nice start.
Next, is the up and coming star from the old team. In this case, Rondo fits the bill. His play has been spectacular and you have to think that having all that talent has given him confidence. His quickness and willingness to play defense have given teams problems so far.
Next, the hired guns. Posey and House bring talent, defense, offense and maturity to the bench. They are efficient, high energy guys who show the other benchies what to do.
Finally, the surprising rookie. Big Baby has played way above expectations and appears to be a steal for a second rounder.
Altogether, a perfect storm that produced a great team so far.

On second thought
I read today that Ellsbury is charging $125 an autograph this afternoon in North Attleboro...and this after hiring Borus!
Screw him, bring me Johan!
Mike, Mike, Mike...Pierce is the MVP of the league thus far. Shut your trap!

Welcome Aboard!!
Good to see Steve coming over to my point of view.
On December 1, I wrote: "Let the Yankees have him. We will do better with Lester, Lowry, Buscholtz and Masterson."
Now, if he could only see the light on Pierce!
To give Pierce some credit, I am impressed with the positive way he has adjusted to his new teammates. If and when he trusts them all, he will be very dangerous.
I was really impressed with Tom Brady's getting in Ryan Smith's face after the Pats first TD. That is leadership! And I love the way Mankins strolled in between Brady and the safeties, making sure Brady was okay.

I change my mind
After watching the World Series DVD, and seeing Jacoby get four hits in Game Three, the regular season recap of Clay's no-hitter, Lester finishing things off in Game Four...screw it, let's keep them all! I was just saying how guilty I felt spending almost as much money as the Yankees...well, winning with cheap homegrown talent sort of alleviates that guilt. At least we drafted them! So forget Santana (for now). I'm happy, and the Pats just laid a smack down on Pittsburgh.
Man, I'm really glad Mike started this blog so that I could argue with myself.

I feel greedy
I want Santana, but I also want a salary cap in baseball. I get so much more joy out of Patriots victories knowing that we're playing with the same restrictions as everyone else.
Other than the camera thing.

At least I know when to use adverbs
even if I'm not "necessary right."
The Twins' patience is respectable, if frustrating.
